Truth Makes You Free
John 8:31,32 NKJV
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Here Jesus is speaking to the believing Jews.
Notice what abiding in His Word accomplishes.
- If they continue in His Word, (knowing and believing the Truth of who HE IS, and why He came,) they are His disciples, (personal followers).
- Indeed,( additional confirmation). they are His personal followers.
- They shall, (strong assertation), know the truth, (truth does not change).
- The truth shall make,( cause or come to expect), them free, (not under the control of another, no longer imprisoned).
Child of God:
- Before salvation you were imprisoned by the powers of darkness.
- As a baptized born again believer, God expects you to be His personal follower.
- As a disciple Jesus expects you to continue reading His Word, praying, praising and sharing the Gospel.
- As a baptized born again believer you know truth, (who Jesus is and why God sent Him John 3:16-18).
- As a baptized born again believer you are free from the powers of darkness.
- As a baptized born again believer His Word has made you free.
- Free from the wrath of God.
- Free from all condemnation.
- Free to worship and praise Him in spirit and in truth.
- Free to worship and praise in the beauty of holiness.
Meditate on your freedom in the Truth.
Thank God that you are eternally free.
May God "teach you to number your days, that you may gain a heart of wisdom" (Psalm 90:12, NKJV).
