Jesus Is Praying For You
Luke 22: 31-32 NKJV
31 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”
During the Passover meal, Jesus shares the plot of the devil against Peter; this is just before He is arrested.
Notice what Jesus tells Peter.
- Simon, Simon,(emphasis), indeed Satan has asked for you, (the Greek implied that all the apostles were a target).
- Simon Satan wants to sift you like wheat.
- But!! I have prayed for you.
- I prayed that your faith should not fail.
- When you return to Me, strength your brethren, (brothers and sisters in the Lord).
Child of God, Know that…
- Satan comes after the baptized born-again believer to kill, steal and destroy, (John 10:10).
- Satan attempts to cause the baptized born- again believer to doubt and lose heart, (weaken faith).
- You are not unique; these verses attest that apostle Peter was a target of Satan.
- But…rest in the truth that Jesus prayed for you, (John 17:6-20).
- Satan must ask permission to sift you.
- Jesus prayed for you.
- You are indwelled with the Holy Spirit who provides a way of escape when you are tempted, (1 Corinthians 10:13).
- Just as Jesus prayed for you, pray for your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Meditate on the truth that Jesus’ prayer protects you from the attacks of Satan.
Thank God that Jesus is at the Right Hand of God making intercession for you now, (Romans 8:34)
