What Will You Leave?
Proverbs 20:7 NKJV
The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.
1 Kings 4:32 tells us that King Solomon the son of King David is credited with 3000 proverbs.
This verse speaks of the ability of parents to leave a legacy for their children,
Notice what he writes.
- A righteous person, (one walking in the ways of God), walks in integrity.
- Integrity is how we live when no one is watching. Integrity is practicing consistent and uncompromising strong moral and ethical life values.
- The children of a righteous person are blessed after him/her.
Point:
- Parents often make plans in life to leave a financial legacy for their children, (money, property, life insurance, etc.).
- Ofttimes these things are not obtained with integrity.
- Soloman writes that the righteous person walks in integrity.
- Their children,(heirs), are blessed after them,( the righteous parent).
Ponder which of the two is the legacy you want to leave for your children.
- Jesus left the baptized born again believer, (that’s you,) an incorruptible legacy.
- You should have your affairs in order, (make provisions for your family)
- More important is to pass on the Gospel of Jesus to your children so they will have the incorruptible legacy from Jesus.
Meditate on the incorruptible legacy Jesus gave you, you are an heir of God and a joint heir of Christ, you have eternal life.
There is no better legacy that you can leave your children then the Word of God, which will teach them how to live a righteous life.
Thank God for the Holy Spirit who will cause you to choose the eternal legacy you want to leave to your children.
May the Lord be with your spirit (2 Timothy 4: 22 a).
Love you Webster
