The Cost
1 Peter 1:18-19 NKJV
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Peter writes these words to encourage the Christians who are being persecuted for their faith.
Notice what he emphases:
- They were not rescued from their futile ways & empty life with perishable things, (gold & silver).
- Their futile ways were inherited from their ancestors.
- The payment price was the precious blood of Jesus.
- Jesus is the sinless & spotless Lamb of God.
As a born again believer you should know that:
- God paid a high price to rescue you from an empty life.
- You were not purchased with perishable things.
- You were redeemed with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
Meditate on the love that God has for you, (He sacrificed His Son).
Meditate on the cost of your life.
Jesus gave His life so that you could live.
Be encouraged by these words when you are going through times of testing.
