What He Did For You

1 Peter 2:9 NKJV

9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Peter writes to encourage the church that is under persecution. He wants them to know who they are in God through Christ Jesus.

Notice what Peter emphasizes.

They are:

  1. Chosen
  2. Royal
  3. Holy
  4. Special

They have a responsibility as God’s favored people.

  1. To give praises to God.
    1. Telling the world, (those in darkness), about the light of Jesus.

As a baptized born again believer:

Know that you are:

  1. Chosen by God, (He foreknew you Psalm 139:16).
  2. Royal, (heir of God joint heir with Jesus Romans 8:17).
  3. Holy, (righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, (2 Corinthians 5:21).
  4. Special, (God owns you 1 Peter 1:18-19).

Meditate on the favor of God in your life.

  • Take a moment to praise Him now.
  • You have a responsibility to share how having Jesus Christ in your life has brought more light into your life.
  • Be purposeful in sharing Jesus with someone today.
  • Thank God for what Jesus did for you.
