A Lamp And A Light

Psalms 119:105,106 NKJV

105. Your word is a lamp to my feet. And a light to my path. 106 I have sworn and confirmed. That I will keep Your righteous judgments.

Notice what the psalmist writes:

1. The Word of God is

      a)  A lamp to his feet

      b)  A light to his path

(At the time of this writing there were no streetlights, when on a journey the oil lamp literally swung back and forth next to the feet as it was carried. It literally was a lamp at the feet, and it literally was the light on the path).

  2. The psalmist takes an oath and confirms that oath.

         a)  To obey God’s Word.

Child of God:

Today consider the path that you are following, is it the right path?

Today consider who is lighting your path?

  • Allow God’s Word to be the lamp at your feet.
  • Allow God’s Word to be the light that literally directs your path.
  • Take a moment to tell God that you will make a promise to follow His directions according to His Word.

Meditate on God's perfect directions for your path in life.

Thank God for His lamp and light.

May the peace of God rest upon you!
